Science Fair

It's that Science Fair time of year, again. It seems like we just finished last year's project. Last year Dallin made it to the state level, so this year he had high hopes (no pressure, Mom). He was invited to participate in the District Science Fair again this year, but did not move on to the state level. He was a little bummed, but we are so proud of him getting this far.

Dallin's project was to find out if normal people could really tell the differece between Blu-ray movies and regular DVD movies. His hypothesis was that people would be able to tell. After doing a couple of tests with two different groups of people, one with sound and one without sound, he concluded that the average person can really only tell the difference when there is sound. Picture quality was difficult to determine. A big "thank you" to those of you who participated in his study.
I'm sure glad that's over for one more year. Next time it will be Junior High, which I hear is much more involved. Maybe we should get started now.

Way to go, Dallin! And you look so handsome and grown up in your blue shirt and tie. What a great kid.

I've wondered the same thing. So does he think we should not replace our DVD player and just hold out for a blu-ray?

If you have a good sound system, then Blu-ray is pretty cool - HUGE difference in sound. But, if all you have is a regular TV, then most people couldn't tell the difference between the two. However, for playing kids movies, Blu-ray isn't worth it. It's only those movies that deserve to be played loud (mostly guy movies) where Blu-ray really shows its stuff. But, we're no Blu-ray experts, by any means.

Augh, the Science Fair. Is that awful to say? We are all done at our house too. Bronte did one about your heart rate and foods we eat like sugar. It was crazy, Dallin's seems like the kind of testing I like, watching movies. If you do another one like this let me know and we'll volunteer to be tested.

Oh, I'm sad Dallin is so big now. When I talked to him on the phone yesterday it finally hit me...he is a big kid. It was fun but sad. Oh and I want to get Blu-Ray, but I am not sure my 15 year old TV would do it justice...so until I can afford to buy a front door I wont be getting Blu-Ray.

You are a good mom. When our science fair paper came home I threw it in the trash before anyone could see it. I hated Science in school and I hate science fairs now. So, kudos to you. P.S. Cassidy and I LOVE our bracelets.
