This year my whole family (minus one brother, missed you, Jeff!) spent the Labor Day weekend at Yellowstone. We rented a cabin in Island Park for all 26, or so, of us and had a great time.
fed some fish, learned how to fly fish (well, sorta'),
and zip lined.
Since we were there on Sunday, we went to a church in Island Park. We had no idea how many people were going to be there. We were among 1900 people, funneling into a regular-sized church building. Cars were double and triple parked in the parking lot, lined the streets, and filled local businesses. The chapel and cultural hall were filled to capacity, as well as every room, classroom, hallway, and even outside. People were sitting outside open windows to hear the service. We sat in a small classroom on kid-sized chairs and the children sat on the floor. As more and more people kept filing in, I wondered how and IF they were even going to attempt passing the sacrament. They actually did it, and it took over a half an hour. I've never seen smaller pieces of bread on a sacrament tray. This was such a remarkable event, that it even made the newspaper. It was incredible to be part of it.
In all, a great family reunion at a great place!

Ah Yellowstone. I love that place. I read that article in the paper the other day - crazy! The other thing that's crazy....how close Leon is to that buffalo. He knows it's a wild animal, right?
Andy - Yes, Leon was very aware that the buffalo was wild and dangerous. We were actually hiking on a trail behind Old Faithful, and really couldn't do much about it other than just walk by quietly. In fact, the whole trip Leon was saying how crazy other people were to get so close to animals to take pictures. The buffalo were grazing right by the parking lot, too. They were hard to avoid. One even got mad at some tourists who were WAY too close, which was scary.
Yellowstone, how great. I would like to take my family sometime. They have never been. Looks like the kids enjoyed it!
This really was a fun reunion. I have been waiting for your post about it and was happy to see it today when I logged on! I love your pictures. I wish we were all still in Yellowstone together. What great memories.
That's so cool about the church experience! I love the photo of all of you, too. How on earth did you get everyone looking?? That's a great family photo...just have to photoshop Jeff in! :o)
