Since entering the Reflections Contest in first grade and winning a trophy, Landon has been hooked. He just assumes that he's going to win something, especially since he won a second trophy last year.
So, this year when Reflections came around again, he knew he was going to enter and knew he was going to win. I had to keep him "real" and remind him that many kids enter and not to get too cocky.

This was a busy time for me with a lot of things going on, so sadly it was the day before the entries were due that we got serious and actually completed it. We went out to the backyard and looked around for something inspiring to take a picture of. The theme for the year was "Dream, Wish, Inspire" - or something ambiguous like that. In the end, this seeded Dandelion was just the thing.
The pictures turned out great and Landon had a great time taking them. We had a hard time choosing which one(s) to submit.
Landon wasn't a bit surprised when his name was called with an award. But, I think he was kind of bummed that he didn't get another trophy but "just" a medal. Hmm - life lessons must be learned, I guess. "You can't win them all."
I did get a smile out of him, so I do think he was somewhat pleased to be a winner.

Wow! I love the eye-level dandelion picture. That one definitely deserved a trophy!
You're a good mom to help Landon with the Reflections contest. I try to lay low and hope my kids haven't heard about Reflections... even secretly throwing away the fliers that come home. What a lot of work! Good for Landon in winning (and entering) three years in a row!
I love the dandelion picture! Great Job Landon!
