CPSIA Sale on Etsy

For all you Etsy and Boutique lovers, you must check this out.

Because of the new law (CPSIA) going into effect on February 9th, those small businesses and individuals who make and sell items for children under the age of 12 on Etsy and other boutiques will have to comply or go out of business. There are thousands of Etsy shops and boutiques, including me, who are discounting their items as a result. Anything sold after Feb. 9th will be considered illegal - too bad. Get your stuff now, or get it from a big manufacturer in China that can afford to comply.

For more information, visit this site: http://www.change.org/ideas/view/save_handmade_toys_from_the_cpsia

Also, visit my Etsy shop http://www.slvjewelry.etsy.com/ for discounted infant, girls, and boy's jewelry.

This law made me so mad when I heard about it recently. I understand it's intentions, but think it missed the mark totally and is doing at least as much harm as good. Hopefully, at some point, they realize this and amend the law.

If the government is going to regulate the honest hard working people, then why don't they do something about all of the child porn?!?
They really need to get their priorities straight.

Yes, there are a lot of small businesses and individuals that will be hurt by this. I've seen several online boutiques going out of business because of this. If this law doesn't change, a lot of crafters will hurt. Just think of all the hair bows, baby blankets, jewelry, tutus, hats, towels, etc. that you see at craft fairs. Well, no more, unless things change. Very sad.

Hey, why don't you still make children's jewelry, but call it regular adult jewelry for smaller people.?. Other people could also make tutus, hair bows, etc., but not call them children's items.

Steph: If you want to get involved in a group of bloggers who are speaking out against the CPSIA law, go to this blog: http://sarahjanestudios.com/blog/

She has a post today about how to tell the lawmakers that this law stinks. She makes handmade illustrations, which I think are beautiful! It would be a shame to lose handmade vendors because of a poorly written law.

Seems like with a hurting economy shutting down small business like this is a crying shame.
