So, if you are wondering from the previous post what in the world Jayden is doing on top of the van, well - he's giving it a hug to say GOOD-BYE.
That's right, we traded in our good ol', faithful, reliable, trusty, 130,000 mile, 1999 Ford van, and got....
A NEW (to us, anyway) 2008 Honda Odyssey.
As much as I enjoy driving this new van, I still feel a bit sad and guilty to see the Ford go. It was a great van for us, despite what reviews have said about it. In fact, we would have bought another Ford, and not joined the Odyssey crowd, if Ford still made a minivan. We are all still trying to get to know this new van, which might take a while with all it's gizmos and gadgets compared to the simple, basic, no frills Ford. You should have seen me trying to get the carpool kids in the van the first day. I learned that it must be in "park" before the automatic doors will work - good to know.
~
(So, Natalie, as much as I'd like to retake that photo of Jayden, I CAN'T - sniff, sniff.)
(Landon is dressed as a heart because he had come home from Kindergarten as a "Valentine" the day before and wanted to wear his heart in the picture to "show the van some love." Seriously.)

I LOVE YOUR NEW VAN! Everyone I know who owns an Odyssey just loves it.
Congratulations to you all! And condolences to sad Jayden.
Oh PS... why is Landon dressed as a heart? There is just so much going on in this picture! Funny Visnaw family.
Congrats on your new van!
We made the move from our 199something Ford van to a 200something Honda (apparently I need a little help on dates today)a couple of years ago! Things you will love about the new Honda: 1)It drives a lot more like a car than our Ford. 2) I love that the heat and a/c controls work more like a thermostat. 3)Opening doors via remote! I used to think this was the ULTIMATE lazy feature but have now been totally converted! So handy for me with a little boy who can't reach the door handles yet!
And that whole "can't-open-the-doors-unless-you-are-in-park" thing gave me fits for the longest time--especially when I was driving car pool!!
Oh--and one other important bit of information you should know now that your Odyssey. When you see the gas light come on you only have about 1 gallon of gas left. This is a vastly different scenario than the 5 gallons I knew I had in our Ford van. I speak from some personal experience with this. Just saying!
We love our Odyssey. You got a good year - it came out with cool features that year - ours is from 2007. I didn't know this until I thought something was wrong, but when you open the gas door, it automatically locks the sliding door on that side. I kept thinking the lock mechanism was broken. Oh, and if the door is already open and you pop the gas door, you will have to manually drag the sliding door shut. Just a little FYI from having a little boy who likes to push buttons :)
Your van is beautiful!!! I want a little test drive. Where can we go...I know, Colorado Springs!! :) I am so extremely happy for you guys. Enjoy it, Stephanie! No guilt about the purchase, please.
Natalie has a FABULOUS idea! ;)
Do it.
Beautiful van, congratulations!!
LOVE my Odyssey! It's older (2004) but I wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe a newer Odyssey.
